This week has been a lesson in balancing. Whilst waiting for the final proof copy of Heartbound to arrive, my attention has been divided between Blue Eyes Behind the Mask and my new work, as well as my other priorities. There will be a post on this coming soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
The good news is I am almost ready to start writing the new work. I believe that the research I have been doing has greatly enhanced its prospects; after all, you wouldn't write an essay without pouring over a few textbooks would you? Without giving too much away, the new novel will be part of a series focusing on mediumship, psychic abilities, and the paranormal. I have a really strong interest in spirituality and mediums, and I read the Tarot Cards from time to time.
Like Heartbound, this work is about something that I have a really close connection with. I also spoke to first year journalism and media students about self-publishing and Heartbound's journey, which was a really enjoyable experience. Some of them asked me for some writing advice, and I felt honored to answer their questions.
So if you have a question about Heartbound, or if you're thinking of becoming a writer yourself, do not hesitate to drop me a message.
Another week draws to a close! After sending off an improved front cover for Heartbound, my attention this week has shifted to improving Blue Eyes Behind the Mask and researching my newest work.
Blue Eyes Behind the Mask is steadily coming along. I have edited the first 2 chapters and I am already getting it formatted for the paperback edition once it is ready for the market. One lesson Heartbound taught me was that formatting can be tricky! If you can format your work as you go along, you'll save yourself a lot of stress. Blue Eyes Behind the Mask will most likely follow the same path as Heartbound, with an ebook being released first, then a paperback edition.
My new work is still in the research stage, yet I am hopeful I will soon be in a position to get on and start writing it.
It is an exciting yet nervous time. I cannot wait until the proof copy arrives, and I am hopeful Heartbound and my other work will continue to do well.
Well, what a week! The first proof copy of Heartbound arrived (yay!) but did need some alterations making to it. As a result, the few days that followed were taken up by working on the cover and submitting time and time again.
Finding the balance between working on Heartbound, Blue Eyes Behind the Mask and researching my new work has been very difficult. Most of my focus has been on Heartbound and the research, although I did manage to complete the first re-edit of Blue Eyes Behind the Mask. It is still a little way off being completed but it's moving at a nice pace, and I'm really excited to get it out there!
Some more good news to bring you concerning Heartbound; after slipping out of the top 100 in its category, it bounced back as high as the mid-30s! I'd love the paperback to perform just as well (that's where you guys come in *hint hint*) and for Blue Eyes Behind the Mask to hit similar heights. Wouldn't that be something?
The next proof copy of Heartbound will be here in about 10 days or so, so keep your eyes peeled for more excitable posts!
Well another week draws to a close. It's been a productive one, and a busy one.
Last week I said I'd come up with an idea for a new novel. This week, I started planning it! A new YA paranormal will soon be joining Heartbound! It's still early days but I've got a really good feeling about this new novel. A lot of research needs to be done, and I'm loving it.
Away from my new work in progress, Blue Eyes Behind the Mask is trundling along very nicely indeed. 2000 words have been added and several others have been removed. Working on Blue Eyes Behind the Mask as enhanced my editing skills and has been a valuable indicator of how far my writing has come. Hopefully, it will share the same success as Heartbound did.
Speaking of Heartbound, the proof copy will be here in just a couple of days! I'm eagerly anticipating the sense of accomplishment when I finally hold the first copy of many in my hands. Imagine if I got it into the big bookshops, now there's a thought!
Keep watching this space for more details and updates!
