This week marked a subtle but much-needed change in my writing fortunes. I managed to write for half an hour each morning with the exception of Tuesday, which might not sound like much given that I usually aim for twice that, but given my recent inconsistencies, it is a welcome turnaround.
For any budding authors struggling in a similar way, you should take pride in these small victories and steps of progress. Writing is not always easy; in fact it is often quite challenging. But the end result - ultimately seeing your work on Kindle and/or in bookstores - makes days like the ones I have had in recent weeks worth it. If you're struggling to fit in an hour of writing, or if you find writing every day difficult, then adjust your routine slightly to make it more enjoyable rather than demotivating.
I am still not out of this dip in form, far from it. However, with this small step forwards, I am hoping that I can get back to the level I reached in the last few weeks of 2015.
