Never be afraid to take a step back. Sometimes, looking at something from a new point of view or with a fresh pair of eyes can be just what you need. I think this has been particularly true for my writing this week.
I mentioned last week that my new work is going through a rough patch and that I might need to look at my structure or even completely rewrite it. This is most definitely still the case, and at the start of the week, I began this momentous overhaul of my work. However, something else caught my attention.
Somebody asked me a very interesting question recently about a novel I wrote a couple of years ago called 'Blue Eyes Behind the Mask'. The simple answer is that I approached a number of agents and publishers with little success. But with my copy editing skills improving with experience and with my confidence boosted by 'Heartbound's success, I have gone back to 'Blue Eyes Behind the Mask' and I'm hoping that it will have a similar outcome as 'Heartbound'. Given that I've not read 'Blue Eyes Behind the Mask' for well over a year and a half, it is strange going back to it. Strange, yet exciting.
This does not mean I've completely abandoned my latest work; it just means it is not right for me at this present time. Roll on the next week.
